Board 3: Rietveld Schroder House

As previously mentioned in our itinerary in The Netherlands, board three of the semester was issued at The Rietveld Schroder House in Utrecht.  Students had to analyze both the interior and facades in relation to the X, Y and Z axes.  Here's what students came up with in just under two hours...pretty impressive if you ask me!

Board 2: Park Guell

Just the other day, students were assigned the second of three boards for the semester. This time the task at hand was to analyze and interpret a number of aspects of Anton Guadi's Park Guell, including occupation, view and nature.

Board 1: Seville Parasol

Our field trip throughout Spain earlier in the semester wasn't just for fun; Sophia and Yoel put us to work! At our last stoop in Sevilla, students were assigned the first board of the semester. Students worked in pairs and had to analyze how the Seville Parasol interacts with the city while simultaneously developing a teamwork strategy as there was less than two hours allotted for the on-site project. The results were as follows:

Matthew Simeone + Devon Brophy

Valentine Catapano + Nathalia De Vera

Kelly Foley + Daniel Ruck

Zach Caplette + Sarah Gordon

Mike Egnor + Magalie Goor

Andrew Lionikis + Miguel Novillo

Isabel Lopez-Font + Alexandra Stuckey

Maria Maloy + Carissa Stinson

Palau Guell

On January 24, 2014, students got to attend class at Antoni Gaudi's Palau Guell.  The morning started of with some sketching outdoors-section cuts through the streets and the analyses of building proportions.  It was by no means a warm morning, but the gorgeous scenery seemed to make up for that.  The first thing one would notice about the building is all of the magnificent twisted iron. Back in the day every single piece of that iron was twisted by hand. Imagine that.

And last, but not least, the view of La Sagrada Familia from the rooftop!
